1000 Van Ness is located in central San Francisco at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and O'Farrell Street. In July, 1998, 1000 Van Ness - vacant for the last decade -- reopened as an innovative 450,000-square-foot development that includes a 14-screen, state-of-the-art movie theater, Crunch - a 28,000 square foot health club, 21,500-square-feet of restaurant and retail space, a 400-car subterranean garage, and 53 loft-style residential units. The restaurants, health club and residential units were developed in the historic building and the theater. The subterranean commercial garage was developed as new construction on the rear lot of the property. The two buildings will be connected with an eight-story atrium.
